Enable Samsung Evo 850 SSD trim feature in macOS

We have known that nowdays it’s time for SSD era. Every notebook, netbook and also Macbook Pro using SSD as their storage for daily. SSD is one of storage except Hard Disk which is we use for a long time ago. What if we want to change our Macbook Pro storage become SSD? It’s possible. Me myself already upgrade my Macbook Pro early 2011 with SSD Samsung Evo 850 2540 GB. The important thing that we have to search about SSD is support or not support trim feature. Why? Because it will take impact to SSD using time.

After you know about the feature and support trim, we can enable trim with application and manual activated without application.

By using application

This way, we need help from third party application. What’s application which can be used for enable trim feature? We can use trim enabler.

  1. Download Trim Enabler, there is an option buy or free download.
  2. Put Trim Enabler in Applications folder
  3. Open Trim Enabler and change off to on.

Without application

In this case, we do not use application to activated trim on SSD but we use command in terminal with trimforce.

  1. Open terminal for the first time.
  2. We can type  the command bellow to activated trim.
  3. We can type y for the option in the terminal below.
  4. Wait for a moment and finish.
  5. Congratulation, your ssd become active trim.

It’s easy, isn’t it? If we don’t know about the metode about everything, we will say it hard. Actually I had looking for this second way for a long time because I think it’s simple way.

That’s all from me about How to force quit in macOS, hopefully what I write and share on this blog can be useful for all of us.
