Create Bootable USB on macOS easily

Bootable USB is an installer that we put on USB/flash drive. There are two way to make it up, by software application or by terminal.  Previously, i’ve ever explained about “how to make Bootable USB using Diskmaker X Application on macOS”. But, now we will discuss how to make it by terminal. on this second way, we only execute “createinstallmedia” file and some command through terminal which is apple has been located the file in macOS installer.

What form of code is used to execute the macOS installer so that we can create bootable USB and use it repeatedly without having to download it from the app store. Below is an example of the code that we will use to create it on macOS :

Below are the steps to make the Bootable USB macOS, including:

  1. Download the macOS installer from the App Store
  2. Open the installer by right-clicking then select “show package content”
  3. Select Resources and then find the file “createinstallmedia”
  4. open the terminal and then typing “sudo”. after that, drag file “createinstallmedia” to the terminal that has been opened. Below, the result of few steps before.
  5. Then, adding “–volume” and drag flashdrive to the terminal.
  6. Adding “–applicationpath” and drag macOS High Sierra installer application.
  7. After complete all the steps then click “enter”. it will request root password from your Macbook, then format process started.
  8. Copy installer to USB/flash drive, the process will take around 20 minutes and Done! to used.

By using the steps above in creating a macOS Bootable, I hope you can make it by yourselves without confused how to create it. I guess that’s all I can say about this topic. What i share in this blog based on my experienced, and i hope it can be useful for all of us.
